It was all good....until the end...I guess this was necessary... for the plot...and maybe to complete the destiny of Batman to become the dark knight of Gotham City...
But WHY Nolan WHY???

         [Spoiler Alert]

You have to kill my old-time favorit villain...

Give me back my Harvey-Two-Face!!!

The single largest issue I have with Dark Knight is the resolution of Two-Face.  The transition was very good and the Hospital scene with Joker was amazing but I have to say that I think Two-Face was a wasted villain.  Most of the scenes with Two-Face could have set up a third film. Because Harvey Dent is the tragedy of his own, he has those Greek conflicts written all over him which i thought Nolan will be happy to film.  But i was wrong...

In the end, any other disappointments I had with the film - except for the sound effect ( i'm still suffering from a light headache) - were of my own making, because I'd convinced myself that, due to Harvey's presence, it would take more material from than it did - an unfair expectation, perhaps, as The Long Halloween is fantastic, you can never do more in a 2.5 hour picture than you can in a good book, and this is Nolan's picture, not Jeph Loeb's, and certainly not Tim Sale's. Anyways, there were several nice nods to it, from a few small references in the Joker's dialogue, to the casting of actors, Nolan did an excellent job of bringing batman into the 3D world.

Ah, yes, there was a somewhat minor character introduced. Joshua Harto played Reese, an employee  for Wayne Enterprises. He had about 15 full minutes in the film and they were significant. He figured out who Batman was and was going to expose him. The Joker also used him as bait so he was on a few peoples' hit list. What is interesting (and, these are not my own ruminations, but ideas I have found on the internet) is that if you say "Mr. Reese" quickly, it sounds like "mysteries." The Riddler, anyone?

PS:Heath Ledger's performance of the Joker is going to give me nightmares for the rest of my life...
